Fire resistant composites for aircraft applications

Permaglass composites are well suited to aerospace applications, offering high strength and impact resistance, coupled with excellent fire resistance.  A number of grades have been approved by aircraft OEMs for use as cargo bay liners.

Our phenolic laminates offer low smoke and toxic fume emissions, and most also have a low heat release rating, permitting their use in passenger cabin interiors. Permaglass MFM decorative laminates also incorporate a scratch resistant surface layer that can be supplied in a range of colours for use in applications such as table tops and partitions.

Permaglass XFS2 is an S2 glass/phenolic armour grade laminate with good ballistic performance and excellent flammability properties.  This material has been used extensively in armoured cockpit doors for civil aircraft.

Permali Gloucester also supply a range of flame retardant and low smoke structural foam materials, and manufacture sandwich panels using Permaglass skins and cores of honeycomb, balsa or foam.
