We are going through rapid growth and are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. Some of the duties are to maintain thermal oil presses, pumps, CNC, water jet and lathers to name a few. This is a very diverse role, which can include facility work, electrical and mechanical. You will be reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor or/and Manager. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday. Working hours: 6.00 AM to 2.00 PM and 12.00 PM to 8.00 PM. The role also includes a 1 week in 5 on call rota.

Required Duties for the Maintenance Engineer:

• Maintenance and repairs on a range of industrial factory equipment
• Electrical, Single, 3 phase Motors and PLCs
• Mechanical engineering, Pneumatics, bearings, pumps, valves, chains and boilers, CNC routers and water jets
• Able to work well in a team
• Provide a reactive and proactive maintenance service
• Provide a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers electrical and mechanical disciplines
• Provide a service that ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is running to optimum performance
• Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met
• Carry out modifications and installations when required
• Liaise with sub-contractors and external suppliers
• Take ownership of tools and equipment provided and ensure they are maintained to an appropriate standard

The successful candidate for the Maintenance Engineer position will have the following experience:
• Time served maintenance engineer is preferred, City and Guilds or NVQ an advantage but not critical.

Buyer and Materials Planner

The Role

The Buyer and Materials planner’s role and key responsibilities will be purchasing raw materials, consumables, and equipment for the business. This will include all day to day and Ad Hoc purchases.

Working as part of a small team, The Buyer and Materials planner will be responsible for the day-to-day planning and supervision of all materials and services, to ensure that the required equipment and goods are procured in line with quality and regulatory expectations whilst meeting manufacturing demands.

The Buyer and Materials planner will take responsibility for negotiating the best prices in line with the MOQ’s, ensure the suppliers adhere to KPI’s and goods are on time, and to ensure all orders for raw material, consumables and requisitions are dealt with promptly.

Responsibilities include

  • To Process orders and monitor manufacturing usages to predict material and consumable usage to ensure material availability for manufacturing.
  • Buy and schedule material and consumables as needed.
  • Co-ordinate delivery dates and shipping details with suppliers.
  • Optimise MOQ’s and lead times for suppliers so that production demands are met whilst managing inventory.
  • To ensure the necessary controls are maintained throughout the organisation to guarantee the integrity of the MPR system and our purchasing procedures.
  • Cost benchmarking of consumable items.
  • Managing and responding to general queries relating to purchase of materials, suppliers and transport processes.
  • Support the Operations Meeting by providing and updating information relating to supply threats and opportunities.
  • Identify cost savings by research into specific material categories and provide information to the Operations Manager detailing supply proposals.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing team and to understand forward planning of materials.
  • Support Supplier compliance by liaising with the Quality Team to evaluate & monitor Suppliers.
  • Working with the warehousing Team, support the receipt of purchased materials and services and keep detailed records of purchases and stocks.
  • Responsible for the management of the inventory across key categories to maintain consistency of supply to relevant departments.

The Role

Required Skills

• Ability to setup and machine a range of features on parts such as tapers, slots, radiused grooves to name a few. Be able to consider methods to setup and clamp parts to achieve desired features.
• Must be confident in their abilities to calculate angles, radii to meet customer drawing features.Ability to design and where necessary make tooling to aid in the machining of specific features will be highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of machining composite materials (desirable).
• Setting and operating radial arm drills and pedestal drills is also required.

The Role

The Role

While the role is primarily to set and run centre lathes, experience on turret and bed mills is also highly desirable. The production operative will work safely on a number of machines or processes and will be expected to
meet set production and quality targets on a daily basis.

Required Skills

• Conventional turner should be a formally qualified apprentice with ideally 3-5 years of experience of working in a production environment. If not apprentice qualified, then they should be time served, preferably with about 5-7 years of experience of working on centre lathes in a production environment.
• Knowledge of machining composite materials (desirable). Turners should be confident in turning parts ranging from 5mm in diameter up to 1800mm in diameter and possibly even bigger in future. Part lengths will range from around 2mm up 3000mm.
• Machinists must be confident in their abilities to calculate angles, radii etc to meet customer drawing features. Likewise, the ability to design and where necessary make tooling to aid in the machining of specific features will be highly advantageous.
• Majority of items to be machined will be washers, flanged bushes, plain bushes, grooved bearings and split bearings. Experience of eccentric turning and trepanning is also required.
• The parts will generally be machined from composite materials produced by the Diamorph group. These materials will all be machined using extraction or LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) and cannot be cut with coolant.
• The machines to be used range from small lathes such as a Holroyd groover and Colchester student lathe to mid-range lathes such as Broadbent Stanley 3m long bed lathe and Cochester Mastiff lathe. Various vertical borers will also be used so experience on those will be beneficial.
• Operators self-inspect their work with operation First Off’s having a secondary inspection performed by a fellow operator before being signed off. As such, it is expected that skilled operators will be confident in the use of standard hand-held inspection equipment with knowledge of CMM and Shadowgraph use considered an advantage.
• Experience of working in a target driven production environment
• Furthermore, as skilled machinists it is expected that they will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings with a good understanding of the related G,D & T symbols and how they apply to the part.

The Role

An exciting time to join a fast-growing company where opportunities have arisen for CNC Millers working within the machine shop. CNC machining centre setter/operator preferably with good knowledge of Haas controls (not essential).
The Individual will be responsible for setting and operating the CNC machining centres and editing programs if required. The production operative will work safely on several machines or processes and will be expected to meet set production and quality targets.

Required Skills

• Candidate should be able to demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in setting and operating CNC machining centres in a fast-paced production environment. Programming is primarily done offline so operators should only need to perform basic editing functions from time to time.
• Candidates from a manual milling background looking to make a change to CNC machining will also be considered. Training will be provided internally and through external courses.
• Candidates will be responsible for setting and operating machines based on standard setting sheets linked to each job and ensuring all parts conform to drawing and instructions.
• Knowledge of setting and operating 4 and 5 axis trunnions will be highly advantageous as will
setting and operating CNC routers.
• Knowledge of machining composite materials (desirable). The parts will generally be machined from composite materials produced by the Diamorph group. These materials will all be machined using extraction or LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) and cannot be cut with coolant.

CNC turning centre programmer/operator with good knowledge of Mazatrol and/or Fanuc controls. The Individual will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating the CNC lathes. The production operative will work safely on several machines or processes and will be expected to meet set production and quality targets on a daily basis.

Required Skills

• Candidate should be able to demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in programming, setting and operating CNC lathes in a fast-paced production environment. Programming is done directly on the machines by the operator.
